Possession of any amount of recreational cannabis is an imprisonable(可判监禁的) offence in Texas. And yet in many places where Texans buy beer, they can also find drinks infused with tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive component of cannabis. THC drinks are flying off the shelves(畅销,抢购一空)—and not just in the Lone Star State(得克萨斯州的别名). Their rise stems from changing social mores(社会习俗,道德观念) and regulatory confusion.
Start with the first. Alcohol sales are declining as youngsters drink less than older generations. But some teetotallers(禁酒者) welcome a buzz(兴奋感,微醺). THC was once stigmatised(使蒙受污名) for leaving users sprawled(四肢摊开的) and giggling on the sofa, wrist-deep in a bag of crisps. Today, though, it has a veneer of(一层…
Many THC drinks have few or no calories; some include ostensibly(表面上地) healthy extras such as plant extracts. Makers boast that they do not cause hangovers(宿醉). Some restaurants have even started to offer them, noticing a rise in “cocktail culture(鸡尾酒文化)”. thc drinks come in a variety of strengths, so pay careful attention to the dosage: consuming 25mg rather than 2.5mg can lead to several deeply unpleasant hours.(THC饮料有多种浓度,因此要特别注意剂量:摄入25毫克而非2.5毫克可能导致数小时的极度不适。)
