“This machine is killing me,” croons(低声吟唱) Phoebe Bridgers in “Lost Boys”, her new song. She does not say whether she has a particular device in mind (or whether, like Rage Against the Machine(美国著名摇滚乐队,以反体制政治立场闻名), she is using the term as a metaphor for the establishment(当权体制)). But, given that her song is about self-destruction and stunted(发育不良的) maturity, she may well be referring to a smartphone.
Elsewhere, however, Ms Bridgers has been loud and clear(明确无误地) about her feelings towards the gadgets: she has banned phones during her world tour, which kicked off(开始) on September 14th. To gain entry, ticket-holders will have to seal their devices inside pouches that are then magnetically locked for the duration of the gig.(持票者入场时须将设备封入袋中,袋子在演出期间会被磁力锁住。) That means no filming or taking photos, as fans annoyingly do at other performances. According to Samsung, a phonemaker, each concert-goer in Britain records on average 12 and a half minutes of video per show.
She is not alone in(并非只有……) enforcing(执行) such rules. Alicia Keys, Childish Gambino and Jack White have all banned smartphones at their gigs. Sir Paul McCartney(英国传奇音乐人,披头士乐队成员) barred(禁止) them at two concerts he played in Los Angeles earlier this year. Bob Dylan(美国传奇唱作人,诺贝尔文学奖得主)’s upcoming tour will be phone-free.
