Not far from one of Scandinavia’s biggest shopping malls, Kashif Virk stood on the pavement(人行道), handing out flyers(传单) and smiling at those who passed by. On a cloudy Tuesday afternoon, the Swedish-born imam(伊玛目) had taken to the street(走上街头) to invite people to ask him anything they had ever wanted to know about Islam.
For years, Sweden’s far right has peddled(兜售、散布) its own, distorted view of Islam, portraying it as being at odds with(与…… The Ask-a-Muslim – or Fråga en Muslim – campaign, conceived(构想、发起) by Virk in 2017, was his way of fighting back.
With the help of dozens of volunteers from the Ahmadi Muslim community(艾哈迈迪穆斯林社区), the campaign had called in at more than 150 farmers markets, squares and city centres, inviting strangers to strike up a conversation(攀谈起来) in hopes of dispelling myths(消除误解) and shedding light on(阐明、揭示) Islam.
