On her first day as an expert author(专家作者) on the world’s most important climate reports, Prof Julia Steinberger knew nobody else, so she sat down at a stranger(陌生人)’s table for breakfast.
朱莉娅·斯坦伯格教授第一天以专家作者身份参与全球最重要的气候报告编写时,谁也不认识,于是她在一张陌生人的餐桌旁坐下吃早餐。
“Hi, I’m Julia. I’m from the University of Lausanne(洛桑大学,瑞士著名公立大学),” she said. The man across the table replied: “I’m Mustafa Babiker. I work with Saudi Aramco(沙特阿美,全球最大石油公司).”
“你好,我是朱莉娅,来自洛桑大学,”她说。桌子对面的男人答道:“我是穆斯塔法·巴比克尔,我在沙特阿美工作。”
Aramco, Saudi Arabia’s state oil company, is responsible for more of the carbon emissions driving the escalating climate crisis than any other company in history, and the kingdom has long been a major blocker of climate action.(沙特阿美是沙特的国家石油公司,其历史累计碳排放量超过任何其他企业,是推动气候危机不断加剧的主要责任方;而沙特这个王国长期以来一直是气候行动的主要阻碍者。)

‘It’s the first time we have so many Saudi-linked authors’
