A toxic(有毒的) landscape was familiar to Martha Agbani when she was growing up – the smell of crude oil(原油) in the air, rivers running black and trees dying on the banks. In Ogoniland(奥戈尼兰,尼日利亚石油污染重灾区), in Nigeria’s oil-exploited Niger delta, Agbani saw the spill(泄漏)s rot away(腐烂掉) the mangrove forests and destroy the livelihood(生计)s of communities around her.
Now, she is training women to plant them back – one fragile(脆弱的) green shoot at a time.
Agbani saw first-hand the toll on Nigerians who protested against the damage inflicted in the delta by big oil companies.(阿格巴尼亲眼目睹了那些抗议大型石油公司破坏三角洲的尼日利亚人所付出的代价。)
