I loathe(厌恶,憎恨) going to the doctor.
Not a controversial opinion, compared with some of the other ones in this section of the Guardian. I’m not exactly arguing for universal basic income(全民基本收入) or for Manchester City to be relegated to the Saudi Pro League here. No one looks forward to a doctor visit, with its recriminations(指责,反责) for bad habits or various intrusive(侵入性的,打扰的) blood tests. People don’t have cocktail parties to celebrate their yearly check-up, and yet, it seems like every day, there’s a new reason to go get prodded by a stranger in a lab coat(被穿白大褂的陌生人戳来戳去).
Our collective fascination(痴迷,着迷) with testosterone levels is just another instance of me (specifically me) being shamed into(因羞愧而被迫做) more medical tests.
