Your coverage(报道) of the Fonagy review concentrates on children and on the risk of diagnosing too readily(诊断过于轻率) (NHS at risk of ‘system failures’ as demand for ADHD and autism care soars, inquiry finds, 9 October). I’d like to speak for those of us who were not diagnosed at all.(我想替我们这些压根没被诊断出来的人说几句话。)
I first asked for help at 17. For 34 years I was treated for anxiety, depression and trauma(创伤). All were real; none were the whole story(全部真相). I was diagnosed as autistic at 51. The same report identified ADHD, which until 2013 could not officially be diagnosed alongside autism.(同一份报告还指出我有多动症,而在2013年以前,多动症在官方上不能与自闭症同时诊断。)
I am still waiting for that ADHD assessment(评估). ADHD is the one for which there is medication, but I cannot get to it.(多动症恰恰是有药可治的那一个,可我就是够不着。) For autism there is nothing: you are given the diagnosis and sent home to deal with it(自己应付).
