France will deploy(部署) about 70,000 police around the country on Saturday as the government seeks to prevent more civil unrest(社会动荡) after some of the worst street violence in years erupt(爆发)ed on the fringes of(在……的边缘) cost-of-living(生活成本的) protests last weekend.

The interior minister(内政部长), Laurent Nuñez, said on Friday the security forces would include elite(精锐的) units usually used for counter-terrorism(反恐) operations and hostage rescue(人质救援)s, adding that there had been social media calls for violence(煽动暴力的呼吁) from “ultra-left(极左的)” groups.
